It is with deep sadness that we relate to members the news that Brian Jaggers passed away on February 15th.
Brian was a keen member of the BSP throughout his life even taking the opportunity to join many of our recent virtual meetings. He was never shy in embracing new technology.
Brian was born in 1937 and joined the BSP in 1966 only three years after it was founded. He became president in 1981 having served several years on council. He started work in the industry as a young man at BBA in Walthamstow, London. He was involved in the production of aroma chemicals before he trained as a perfumer. He also worked in the US for BBA. He joined Norda and then PPL /Quest, before helping to set up the fragrance division at Pauls & White. This division then blossomed into the Independent Fragrance company. He helped foster Independent’s expansion into the Far East setting up the office and factory in Hong Kong.
Brian will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to share his expertise, his passion for perfumery, his commitment to quality. He was respected and trusted both by multinational clients, as well as by those who worked on the factory floor.
