This 3-5th of November 2023, the BSP will be running its popular Workshop Weekend at the Hilton Cambridge Belfry Hotel. The weekend is a great opportunity to network and develop relationships with both peers and mentors within the fragrance industry.
ABOUT WORKSHOP WEEKENDS
The British Society of Perfumers Workshop Weekends are well respected in the UK fragrance industry, supported by ICATS, the industry distance learning programme, and sponsored by IFEAT (The International Federation of Essential Oil and Aroma Trades).
Running for over 40 years the Workshops are designed to bring an awareness and understanding of the fragrance industry to recent entrants, those building their experience in their role, or even those looking to switch departments. They are relevant to any role in the industry.
You will learn presentation skills and develop confidence in sharing your own experience of your sense of smell. As well as the active learning there will be a series of interactive lectures including topics such as fragrance history, background about fragrance ingredients, fragrance analysis, sustainability and numerous industry focused topics.
Established Perfumers will provide the ‘hands on experience’ of creating a fragrance and experienced Fragrance Evaluators will guide you through the process of answering a perfume brief. You won’t leave the weekend a Perfumer, but if that is your ambition you will be a step nearer your goal.
While designed for industry employees, anyone who wants an in-depth learning experience into the fragrance development process is welcome to attend. The science behind perfumery will be touched on, but there is no expectation of a scientific qualification to take part.
PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK
Fragrance Evaluator Georgia Dowd shared her experiences from 2022’s Workshop Weekend.
“The workshop weekend was honestly inspirational. I’d been in the industry for 6 years when I attended the workshop and I learnt so much. We learned about marketing, evaluation, perfumery, regulatory – it was a wonderful insight into the whole story behind making a fragrance. We were even treated to a talk from the nose behind the famous Pomegranate Noir perfume! This weekend helped me fall in love with the industry all over again.”
