Meet our speaker: Danny Hettiarachchi
Dr. Dhanushka (Danny) Hettiarachchi is the Technical Product Specialist at Quintis Sandalwood, he is an adjunct research fellow at the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University. He is a member of the International Standards Organisation’s committee on essential oils and serves as the technical expert on sandalwood for the State of Western Australia.
With close to two decades of experience in the essential oil and plant lipid industry, Danny has specialised in sandalwood and agarwood. He holds a Doctoral degree in natural products chemistry and Master of Pharmacy in pharmacognosy from Curtin University Australia and a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree from SRU India, he is also a charted chemist at the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Danny has published several peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on essential oils and plant lipids. Danny is a member of the technical advisory committee of Australian Society of Cosmetics Chemists.
Danny is an enthusiast of Indian classical music, where he sees a similarity in aroma and musical mode appreciation. A self-claimed foodie, he enjoys experimenting with flavours.
