Advances in technology have made it possible to understand the mechanisms behind olfaction, digitize scent and use it to help predict consumer preferences. Aromyx, a leading company in applying biotechnology and data science to capture unique sensory data, has a panel with five experts who will address how AI has been used for predicting scent preferences and how digitizing scent will change the way perfumers create fragrances more effectively.
Webinar Title: Scent Digitisation: Leveraging AI in the Perfume Creation Process
When: Thursday January 26th 2023 at 2pm ET/11am PT/7pm UK
Format: 45-minute panel presentation and 15 minutes of Q&A

Our Panel Members:
– Josh Silverman, PhD, Chief Scientific Advisor
Dr. Josh Silverman has more than two decades of experience in new biotechnology research, development, and commercialization. Before joining Aromyx as CEO, he was founder and chief technology officer of Calysta, Inc., where he led development of technology converting methane gas to protein using bacteria. Previously, he was vice president of Drug Development at Amunix, Inc. Dr. Silverman co-founded Versartis, Inc. in 2008 and participated in the founding and financing of four startup biotechnology companies (Avidia, Diartis, Siluria, and Calysta). He has held positions at two public biotechnology companies, Maxygen, Inc. and Amgen, Inc. Dr. Silverman earned his B.Sc. in Molecular Biology from UC San Diego and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Stanford University.
– Sandeepa Dey, PhD, Director of Biotech Development
Sandeepa Dey came to Aromyx with over 15 years of experience in olfactory and taste receptor biology. She implemented the cell-based platform used in Aromyx’s screening and discovery efforts and loves leveraging her expertise to help Aromyx’s customers gain insights that help them deliver better products. Sandeepa received her PhD from Duke University and continued her work at The Scripps Research Institute (San Diego), where she won the NIH Early Career Award (R21) in 2017 in recognition of her discoveries around receptor signaling. Her scientific background is neuroscience with emphasis on chemosensation (olfaction and taste). She has made key contributions in the field, published papers in high impact journals and has been an invited speaker at scientific conferences.
– Ilya Kolb, PhD, Senior Project Manager
Ilya Kolb received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA) in 2017. During his Ph.D., he developed a robot for studying brain cells which are now being used by many labs worldwide. He then worked as a post-doctoral researcher and manager at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia Research Campus (Ashburn, VA). He used high-throughput screening to develop fluorescent biosensors. Portions of his Ph.D. project have been patented and commercialized by several companies.
– Brad Meyer, Director of Automation
Brad Meyer is the Director of Automation at Aromyx. Brad has more than a decade of experience in using liquid handling robots to perform high-throughput biological experiments. He automates Aromyx’s processes and increases the throughput and quality of our assay.
– Elise Kern, SVP, Data and Insights
